A home theater review can shed some well-needed light on the darkness that is the home theater industry. A lot of home theater products are significantly complicated and provide little to no actual information on their product for the novice theater consumer. Finding a solid home theater review can help decipher a lot of the complicated “techie” code language used by the professionals and make home theater shopping easy and even exciting. Speak English Please! There is certainly a lot of technical jargon out there in the world of home theater and it can be discouraging to try and thumb through all of the “hrtz” and “mgtz” and “gig” type language to find an actual product review that tells you how the product works, what it looks like, and what it does in plain English terms. Often times, you’d wonder if half the terms they use aren’t completely made up and fabricated to make something sound more complicated than it is. A good product review should make it seem easy, it should enlighten the reader to the product in simple terms and let them in on all of the little design secrets as well. The reader should know what they’re getting themselves into and how to install the product and make it work without tearing their hair out. Home theater review rarely works this way and instead drowns the reading in a seemingly endless array of useless details and technical terms that nobody really understands. Finding a good review can be hard, but try some of the mainstream magazines for starters. Using some of the more technical magazines out there or using a specialized website can discourage you quickly because of the terminology being used. A lot of reviews are written for those that “know what they’re talking about” instead of those that are perhaps newer to the home theater market or aren’t so sure about a lot of the technical details. I have used men’s magazines before to find good reviews on home theater equipment. The home theater review is usually presented in a clean and concise way with lots of pictures and diagrams to fill out the details without getting too swamped in jargon. The importance of knowing your purchase in home theater is huge and getting lost in a tricky technical review of the product certainly does not help make things any clearer.
